What is Coronary Artery Disease?

Coronary artery disease (CAD) occurs when a blood vessel that supplies the heart muscle, called a coronary artery, narrows and gets clogged due to a buildup of plaque. The blockage reduces blood flow and oxygen to your heart muscle, and it can eventually cause a heart attack or stroke.
