Our Story
WHO WE ARE
Why we were created
JCTS was created in 2022 as a joint venture of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). The Australian General Practice Training Program (AGPT) is the most common training pathway for becoming a GP in Australia. JCTS provides support for this program by delivering cultural education and mentorship to ensure GPs are equipped with the skills to deliver culturally safe health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

We advocate for greater access, acceptance and participation, and we make it our business to be the best at getting better.

Our vision
Our goal is to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to deliver best practice GP training in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, ensuring generations thrive, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors are nurtured and grown, and every GP is equipped to provide culturally safe health care.

- Cultural integrity, respect and advocacy
- Reciprocity – two-way sharing of culture and knowledge
- Trust built on integrity and transparency
- Connectedness
- Humility
- Honour of one is honour of all
