Our JCTS SA team recently held their first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Cultural Awareness two-day workshop of 2025.
The workshop for GP registrars began with a cultural tour of the Adelaide Botanic Gardens by Kuma Kaaru‘s Jack Buckskin, who provided an insight into the cultural significance and value of Kaurna Country.
The registrars were able to get involved and have a go at basket weaving and learn about the activity’s cultural importance and history by Aunty Ellen Trevorrow and the Ngarrindjeri Sister Weaver’s from Mardawi Aboriginal Corporation.
On the second day of the workshop, the registrars had the opportunity to put their knowledge gained into action and work on interactive and real-life case studies of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients health from a cultural lens.
The workshop was highly successful, with amazing feedback from the registrars who attended. Thank you to everyone involved!
