A group of GP Supervisors recently gathered on the sacred lands of Budj Bim in Southwest Victoria, an internationally recognised Aboriginal heritage site, for a unique immersion activity.
This enriching experience was facilitated by local Elders, RACGPs Victorian Medical Education lead for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and JCTS Cultural Educator.
The aim of this activity was to deepen understanding and foster meaningful connections with Elders on Gunditjmara Country. Supervisors also gained insights into the local history and traditions and the importance of working with local health services, community organisations and Traditional Owner groups to deliver culturally responsive healthcare.
We express our deepest gratitude to the Traditional Owners of Budj Bim Country, the Gunditjmara peoples for sharing their knowledge, wisdom and land with us.
