We are excited to announce that JCTS has partnered with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) on the creation of culturally appropriate resources.
PMCV strives to deliver exceptional training opportunities and environments for prevocational doctors throughout all health services in Victoria. They work across the healthcare system, both within Victoria and throughout Australia, to help improve the educational and training opportunities that are available to support the welfare and career development of prevocational doctors, nurses, and midwifes who have recently graduated or commenced work in Victoria.
One of the first initiatives from our partnership with PMCV will be to support the introduction of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) into prevocational medical training programs. We will work together with PMCV to develop and review the following resources to ensure appropriate cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders:
• Clinical scenarios to showcase EPAs being undertaken
• Guidance material to support the implementation and completion of EPA adapted to audience (prevocational doctor, supervisor, medical education unit, assessment review panel)
• Training videos
This suite of resources will be completed prior to the launch of EPAs in March 2025 with input from our JCTS Medical and Cultural Educators.
Karen Dixon, JCTS Regional Manager, Victoria said:
“We are delighted to partner with the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria, sharing a common vision for excellence in post graduate medical education. Through this strategic partnership, Joint Colleges Training Services commits to supporting the co-design and development of culturally sensitive resources. We look forward to working closely with the team at PMCV to support the academic journey of prevocational doctors.”
