Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

What is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a condition that starts in childhood and can continue into adulthood.

It’s not a sickness but rather a way some people’s brains work differently. Everyone falls on a spectrum—some people experience more ADHD traits than others.

ADHD can make it hard to focus, stay organised, or manage time. But it can also come with strengths, like creative thinking and being good at solving problems in unique ways.

What causes ADHD?

The exact causes of ADHD aren’t fully known, but it often runs in families. ADHD seems to come from a mix of genes inherited from your parents. This mix can affect the way the brain is structured and how it works.

How do I feel / How do I look with ADHD?

People with ADHD are often energetic, creative, and spontaneous. But they might also find it harder to:

  • Pay attention and concentrate.
  • Sit still or stay calm.
  • Think things through before acting.

Unfortunately, many people with ADHD are misunderstood. They might be told they are “lazy” or “naughty” when their brains just work in a different way.
