World Family Doctor Day

On World Family Doctor Day, we acknowledge the crucial role family doctors and primary care teams play in healthcare systems around the world.

Established by WONCA (World Organisation of National Colleges, Academies and Academic Associations of General Practitioners/Family Physicians), this annual day celebrates the vital contributions of family doctors in delivering personalised, comprehensive, and continuous care to patients and communities.

This year’s focus is on ‘Building Mental Resilience in a Changing World’, emphasising the pivotal role of family medicine in supporting mental health and resilience. Through continuous, person-centered care, family doctors are uniquely positioned to nurture mental wellness and help guide patients through the stress and uncertainty of everyday life.

The video below brings together voices from family doctors across the globe, speaking from the heart about the unique role they play in supporting mental well-being in communities everywhere.

JCTS would like to give a heartfelt thank you to all our GPs across Australia for the work that they do, especially in providing best practice care for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring generations thrive.
